Serendipity

Every now and then we get a glimpse of the Universe in all day of its unabashed brilliance. The funny thing is that the signs are always in front of us, but often times our eyes are veiled and minds too busy with the stress and clutter of the day.

Today was a flurry of activity, filled with all of the things I strive the most to keep away from. Committed to an event, and not wanting to participate in lack of follow through, I left my office determined to arrive on time. The rush hour traffic in my area is always daunting, and could feel myself tensing up as I gripped the wheel tightly. I was lost in thought about the day, wondering if it was worth pushing myself to go out instead of home.

I actually arrived quite early, and decided to stay in my car and make some calls. After a moment or two, I felt compelled to just head in. Initially I felt the awkwardness of people milling around and setting up, so I offered my assistance. None was needed so I made my way to ladies room. Much to my surprise there was a little book along side some flowers by the sink. I took a moment to read the passage, and it spoke volumes to me. The journal was opened to today’s date, November 16th:

“Living and Learning”

There’s something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn. Fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of the wise men and women. Start with God.
~ Proverbs 1:5-7 (MSG)

Serendipity is very much alive and willing to greet us with open arms! A word in season is right around the corner, as the universe beckons, and provides much needed confirmation and direction when we are open to receiving it.

As I exhaled at the sink, I realized that I’m truly not alone. There are ears that hear, hands which extend, and love so unmeasurable it can speak to me through a little book in a bathroom. I returned to the conference room ready to receive whatever I was supposed to, and asked a few women if they knew who put the book near the sink in the ladies room. No one knew, and some had not even noticed it, but I sure did. The event turned out to be inspiring, thought provoking, and well timed. It reinforced my core belief on the interconnectedness of it all, and gave me an acknowledgement I needed.

Be encouraged, and believe that you are worthy and able to receive the signs along the way. Joyful moments are found within the journey itself, not necessarily the destination.
